Lubricants — Types & Compatibility

Lubricant is the single most impactful accessory purchase for any sex toy user. The lubricants category is one of the fastest-growing segments in sexual wellness, driven by rising awareness around safe and pleasurable sex and increased mainstream availability. The type you choose matters significantly — not just for comfort but for material safety.

Water-Based Lubricants

The safest universal choice — compatible with every toy material: silicone, TPE, glass, metal, and ABS plastic. Easy to clean with water. Non-staining. Safe with latex condoms and barriers. The only limitation is that water-based lubricants absorb into skin faster than silicone-based, requiring reapplication during longer sessions. For most toy users, water-based is the correct default.

Silicone-Based Lubricants

Longer-lasting than water-based — does not dry out, ideal for extended sessions, anal play, and use in water. Critical: never use silicone-based lubricant with silicone toys. The lubricant bonds with the toy surface and permanently degrades it. Safe with glass, metal, and ABS plastic only. Hybrid Lubricants

A water-based base with a small silicone percentage — longer-lasting than pure water-based, safer than pure silicone-based with most materials. Patch-test on a hidden area of silicone toys before use. Not recommended for sex dolls.

Toy Cleaners & Intimate Wipes

Standard household cleaners damage toy surfaces and leave chemical residues. Dedicated sex toy cleaners are pH-balanced, antibacterial solutions specifically formulated to clean toy materials without degrading them.

Spray Cleaners

Spray onto the toy surface, leave for 30–60 seconds, wipe clean. The most convenient format for toys that cannot be fully submerged — vibrating toys with non-waterproof sealing, battery-powered items, and electronic toys. No rinsing required on most formulations.

Foam & Liquid Cleaners

Applied by hand or cloth for more thorough coverage of textured surfaces and internal canals. Preferred for penetrable toys, masturbators, and sleeves where canal coverage matters. Rinse with warm water after application.

Intimate Wipes

Pre-moistened antibacterial wipes for quick surface cleaning between uses, during travel, or when running water is not available. Not a replacement for full cleaning — a supplement to it for convenience. Check that wipes are pH-balanced and free from alcohol, which can dry out silicone and TPE surfaces.

Storage Pouches & Cases

Proper storage protects toy surfaces from dust, UV degradation, and contact with other materials that cause chemical reactions. Satin Storage Pouches

Chargers, Cables & Replacement Batteries

Rechargeable sex toys use predominantly magnetic USB connectors — the most common point of failure is the cable, not the toy itself. Massage Candles

Low-melting-point candles that produce a warm, body-safe massage oil when burned. The melted wax at 40–45°C is poured or dripped onto skin as a warming massage oil. Massage candles are not safe for sex doll surfaces — the wax and oil components are incompatible with TPE and silicone doll materials. Always test on your own forearm before use on a partner.

Latex Care — Shine, Polish & Dressing Aid

Latex clothing — catsuits, gloves, stockings, hoods — requires specific care products not needed for any other material. These products are for latex fetish wear and clothing, not for sex toy surfaces or sex doll materials.

Latex Shine Spray & Polish

A silicone-based spray applied to latex garments before wearing — produces the characteristic mirror-shine finish and reduces friction against skin, making full-body garments easier to put on and take off. Reapply during extended wear if the shine dulls. Safe on latex clothing only — do not apply to TPE or silicone toy surfaces.

Latex Dressing Aid

A specific lubricant formulation applied inside latex garments before putting them on — reducing friction without degrading the latex. Standard lubricants or oils will degrade latex from the inside; use only dedicated latex dressing aid.

Latex Cleaner

A mild latex-specific cleaning solution — never use standard soap, bleach, or household cleaners which degrade latex over time. Rinse with warm water, apply latex cleaner, rinse again, and dry completely before storage.

Toy Repair Kits

Minor surface tears in TPE toys — including small cuts or splits in masturbator sleeves — can sometimes be repaired with a dedicated TPE repair adhesive. Viable for surface tears under approximately 2cm when applied correctly.
